Explosion Takata Airbags largest ever recall in the United States
The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which reached an agreement with the Takata after sparring with the company over the past year the size of memory and reason for millions of airbags. This will be the largest in the history of the agency review.
Many of Takata airbag can explode with too much force, blowing apart the metal container and sending shrapnel in the cabin. Airbags are responsible for six deaths and over 100 injuries.
Ten automakers, including Honda Motor and Toyota Motor, recalled 17 million vehicles in the US and over 36 million worldwide through this problem. These numbers will grow because millions of transactions, but it is unclear which manufacturers will be most affected by the expanded recall.
Automakers must make memories, even if they are for defective parts.
Takata review dwarfs last year's widely publicized recall of 2.6 million General Motors small cars for faulty ignition switches.
